Holidays in Rwanda

Rwanda is a small country that many might not consider a holiday getaway. But it provides some of the most amazing vacation memories the world has to offer. It is a jewel nestled in the heart of Africa with many facets that glisten and shine to captivate the hearts of visitors for the rest of their lives.

One of the most exhilarating aspects of a Rwanda holiday is the heart-pounding feel of standing within only a few feet of the most magnificent primates in the world, the very primates Dian Fossey gave her life to protect. Peaceful and gentle, the mountain gorillas are the highlight of an adventure that offers one of the most exotic and amazing experiences anyone can enjoy.

Despite its recent notoriety, Rwanda has been and remains a country of hope, beauty and prosperity. It offers an unparalleled wildlife encounter with its mountain trek into the heart of gorilla territory where the visitor can actually go into the community of these gentle giants and see how they live face-to-face. It is an incredibly rewarding experience beyond imagination or expectation.

Parc du Volcans, is a mountain shrouded in mist and overabundant vegetation. Rising from the fertile lands of Rwanda, the mountains are a striking scenic view that takes the breath away. It is the land of a thousand hills nestled in the very heart of Africa like a diamond lying between the Great Rift Valley and the Congo Basin. Rwanda shares the ecosystems of both these diverse geological wonders and shares in abundant natural riches. The land locked land has an unsurpassed biodiversity and exquisite beauty. Rwanda shares its borders with Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Congo.

25% of Africa’s gorilla, chimpanzee and colobus monkey population makes Rwanda their home. Some troops of colobus monkeys reach numbers of 300 members and are a magnificent sight to see. Chimpanzees and colobus monkeys live in Nyungwe Forest which is a stunning rain forest while the gorillas call Parc National des Volcans their home.

Rwanda offers travellers a diverse choice of vacations. Those who want to get closer to the Africa holidays experience they can enjoy the simple life of the private lodges that rest along the shoreline of Lake Kivu. Or they can stay in the new and modern hotels of Butare and Kigali.

The magnificent scenery, heart of the people, wonder of natural wild life, and natural treasures make Rwanda an unforgettable holiday experience that will be remembered and talked about for the rest of the visitor’s life.

Rwanda has two rainy seasons that take place in April and May as well as November. The long rains happen in April and May and this is the time of year that is best avoided by the visitor. The long rains of April and May make travelling impossible and ruin the ability to see the wild life inhabitants. November is the season of short rains that make travelling difficult. However, it is well worth braving the difficulty because this is the best time to find the chimpanzees.
